My love of art came in my early teens and in the form of graffiti initially. I would spend hours creating tags, using different fonts, colours, designs and leave a trail of them wherever I had been from the desk where my computer was to people’s post, address books, even on the home telephone when I was using it. To me having a pen in my pocket became second nature. Art had firmly become my passion.

I studied art at GCSE level and the natural progression for me was to focus my studies on my love of the visual world. Realising this I studied Art & Design for 2 years at college in Surrey where I gained skills in fine art helping me to be an effective artist and designer and gaining a greater understanding of 2D and 3D visual communication-an essential skill in the art of graffiti.

Since college I have worked on two blockbuster movies; Elizabeth: The Golden Age with Cate Blanchett and The Golden Compass with Daniel Craig. As a set painter I had the opportunity to be part of a team of talented artists creating illusions through art such as distant landscapes or blue skies painted on a backdrop. It was an invaluable experience which added another level of understanding to my skills and opened my mind up to the endless possibilities of art.

With my sketch book constantly open and full of drawings such as portraits of Elvis, Johnny Cash and pin up girls to hearts, swallows and my infamous tags my friends started taking a deeper interest and asked me to design for them so they could have a unique tattoo. I delved into the projects enthusiastically, and my friends went about getting my art embedded onto their skin. I feel proud that my friend’s wear my designs and it has brought a new passion into my life that I am keen to perfect.

Learning to be a tattoo artist is a natural and integral part of my progression as an artist…I am looking forward to this part of my journey.
