Hello everyone!
My name is Chris Hatch, I'm 26 years old and this is just a bit about me and how I got to be here!
From a young age I was rarely found without a pencil in my hand, and it was whilst drawing cartoons for my friends at the back of my english classes I believe I was bitten by the bug. Thankfully for my teachers, art class was never far behind, and it was there I began to take my work seriously. I pursued this love through GCSE's, A levels, foundation, and right on to university where I studied Illustration and Animation. Although specialising In conceptual CGI, my quirky, often dark style of work caught the attention of several students, and I was asked to design my first tattoos. Watching the tattooist bring my drawing to life on my friends skin was the moment I fell in love with tattooing. I had always appreciated the art form, but did not realise how expressive, unique and stunning the art work created could be, nor how happy it made the client. Intoxicated by the notion, It was then I decided I wanted to be the artist in that chair.
After graduating I approached a number of different tattoo studios, but unfortunately (as I am sure anyone who has ever tried for an apprenticeship before will relate!) I was met by a number of closed doors. Not to be defeated I went away and developed my skills, exploring other creative industries; drawing for comic books, childrens books and websites and eventually designing 3D characters for a post production company. However, I never forgot that chair. By the time I went for the opening at Ouch! my work had come along so far that I suitably impressed the right people and here I am working for one of the most respected tattooing studio's in the country!
Currently based in our Brentford branch, due to my drawing skills and creativity I specialise in creating unique custom designs and tattoos for clients, and though a relatively new tattoo artist, working under the tuition of Dariusz my art and technique has come on, in leaps and bounds! I am now looking forward to meeting you, and bringing all your idea's to life!
